Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is now taking bookings for its schools’ programme for the next academic year.

Historic Royal Palaces

HRP invites schools to experience history in six major palaces around the UK, including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Banqueting House Whitehall, Kensington Palace, Kew palace and Hillsborough Castle.

Historic Royal Palaces reportedly attracts more than 200,000 children per year across the various sites.

What’s on offer for schools?

The programme has been designed to inspire both teachers and pupils by using the palaces and their stories to bring history to life.

It targets Key Stages 1 to 5 and offers varied cross curricular opportunities for all pupils, including workshops and resources.

At the centre of the programme is a range of facilitated learning experiences on site at the palaces.

For teachers there is a collection of  resources online and a creative Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme which includes free familiarisation days to support their planning process.

Also, HRP has introduced a brand new GCSE offer whereby students will have the opportunity to learn about the Normans, Elizabeth I and the Historic Environment through in-depth studies which encourage critical examination of primary source material.
