Legoland Discovery Centre

Merlin Entertainments has announced that a new Legoland Discovery Centre will be constructed at Birmingham Barclaycard Arena.

The centre is set to be an indoor attraction based on the popular Lego brick and construction work is planned for late this year with the aim of the complex opening in 2018.

What to expect from the Legoland Discovery Centre

The centre is being designed specifically for children between the ages of three and ten making it suitable for Key Stage 1 and 2 school groups.

The attraction aims to give schools visiting two to three hours of interactive and educational fun.

The centre will provide a range of Lego play areas, interactive rides, master classes from the Lego Master Model Builder, a 4D cinema and the popular Miniland area found in ever Legoland Discovery Centre and theme park. Miniland will reflect the most iconic buildings in Birmingham.

School bookings will play an important part in the centre and there will be special rooms set aside for school groups to have lessons in and take part in activities.

More details of what the centre can offer schools will be revealed shortly.

Further information about the centre

Legoland Discovery Centre Birmingham will be Merlin’s second Discovery Centre to open in the United Kingdom behind Manchester, and the twentieth Discovery Centre globally.

John Jakobsen, chief new openings officer for Merlin Entertainment plc, commented: “The Legoland Discovery Centre concept has been a huge success across the globe. Uniquely, and most importantly it was always conceived and designed from a child’s perspective so it is a very special place, offering an opportunity for adults and younger children to spend fun, quality time together.”
