Autumn term at the National Railway Museum

Date Posted: 09/07/2013

The National Railway Museum in York has announced its forthcoming schools’ activity programme for the autumn term, including a new exhibition focussing on the catering aspect of the railways.

From now until 22nd November, Moveable Feast will bring together items from the early days of railway catering up to the present day brands.

From beautiful silverware to packaging for the last microwaved burger served on a train, children on a school trip can see how the travelling public is catered for.

School trip organisers can take parties to the exhibition for free.

Highlights at NRM York

The Mallard Experience: School groups can experience the sounds, sights and smells of the world’s fastest steam locomotive in the museum’s new state-of-the-art simulator ride which recreates Mallard’s record-breaking run.

Autumn Great Gathering: Running from 26th October to 8th November, the gathering gives school groups visiting York the chance to see the locomotive Mallard and its sisters around the turntable in the city.

NRM York has a dedicated learning team, and variety of resources and facilities available for those booking a school visit to the venue.
