A taste of opera for school groups

Date Posted: 08/11/2013

To celebrate the last stop of the annual Glyndebourne tour, the opera company will be presenting Annabel Arden’s production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore [The Elixir of Love] at The Regent Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent from 11th to 14th December, with a special school performance on 13th December.

This performance of L’elisir d’amore, is suitable for pupils in Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 classes. Teachers can also attend a free pre-performance talk on the opera’s opening night, 11th December, exploring the themes behind the show.

L’elisir d’amore features rising American tenor Christopher Tiesi, who is singing in the UK for the first time; and US soprano Joélle Harvey who returns to Glyndebourne Tour after her much admired debut last year performing Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro [The Marriage of Figaro].

David Pickard, general director at Glyndebourne, said: “Glyndebourne remains steadfast in its desire to invest in the future of both audiences and performers and the tour does this in two important ways – by bringing world-class performances to new audiences and by bringing new talent to the fore.”
