We round up eight West End shows that welcome school visits, offer special rates, and most importantly, have ties to the National Curriculum.
Taking your school to see a show can link in with many different curriculum based subject, from Drama and Dance, to English and PSHE. Here are some of the shows currently running in the West End that are worth considering for a school trip. Each one can be booked through Group Line.
Wicked tells the untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
The show has just been extended for the 24th time and is now booking until 1st December 2018 at Apollo Victoria Theatre.
Wicked can be linked with Drama, Music, English and PSHE as it teaches valuable lessons about relationships and self-belief.

The Lion King
Based on the Disney animation film, The Lion King is the story of Simba the young lion cub, as he journeys through life and struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destined role of King.
The show is currently taking bookings until 25th March at the Lyceum Theatre. This show can be tied to English, Music, Drama and Design.
The Woman in Black
The Woman in Black follows Arthur Kipps, a lawyer who becomes obsessed with breaking a curse that is cast upon him and his family. He asks for the help of a young actor to help tell his story, however as they delve deeper into the past they find themselves caught up in the horror.
The show is currently taking bookings until 3rd March at Fortune Theatre in London and has direct ties to English studies.
School of Rock
The show tells the story of wannabe rock star Dewey Finn, who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school to make some money. However, when he discovers his students’ musical talents, he encourages them to create a rock band and enlists them into the Battle of the Bands competition.
School of Rock is currently taking bookings until 13th January 2019 at New London Theatre. The show can be linked to Music studies for schools.
Aladdin
From Disney Theatrical Productions, creators of The Lion King stage show, Aladdin features the much-loved songs from the 1992 animated film including A Whole New World and Arabian Nights. It follows the story of a young man who finds a lamp with a genie inside who can grant him three wishes.
Aladdin is showing at the Prince Edward Theatre in London and is booking until February 2018. It can be linked to English, Drama, Design and Music.
Kinky Boots
Kinky Boots follows the story of Charlie Price who is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations in continuing the family business in their shoe factory, Price & Son. However, help arrives in the form of Lola, a drag performer in need of some new stilettos. Charlie returns to his factory to solve the problem and starts creating shoes for his new niche market to try and save the business.
The show is currently booking until 24th March 2018 at the Adelphi Theatre in London and has educational links to Design, History and Art.

Matilda The Musical
Matilda The Musical tells the story of Matilda, a young, bright girl who is born into a family who don’t appreciate her. Besides her parents she also has to put up with starting a new school where the horrible Miss Trunchbull is the head teacher. Along the way, Matilda discovers she has powers and finds escapism from the world she lives in.
The show is running at Cambridge Theatre in London and is taking bookings until 27th May 2018. Matilda can be tied in with English and Drama studies.
Stomp
Stomp uses everyday objects to create rhythms such as shopping trolleys, newspapers and bins. It combines comedy, dance and music.
The closing date for going to see the show is 15th April 2018 at London’s Ambassadors Theatre. This show can tie in with Music and Dance.
