Schools workshops from the Apple Store

Date Posted: 07/10/2014

Apple Stores across the UK have expanded on their existing free workshop programme and extended the scheme to schools.

Teachers wanting to find out more about Apple products can now sign up for one of its Field Trips alongside their pupils.

The onsite team from Apple will show students and teachers how its products can make great tools for teaching and learning.

Pupils can create something on the spot; or they can bring in a project they’ve already worked on and turn the store into a theatre, sharing their achievements with parents, teachers and friends.

Field Trip to the Apple Store

Students will use the Mac computers in-store to create photo albums in iPhoto, edit video in iMovie, make Keynote presentations, or even compose their own songs in GarageBand.

Whether your students create projects from scratch or come to showcase their own work, Apple will provide all the hardware and software they need.

Staff will be on hand to answer questions and give expert on-the-spot advice, and every participating student and teacher gets a free T-shirt.

Who can take part in an Apple Field Trip?

Field Trips are open to Primary and Secondary school students and teachers in the UK. Each event can accommodate up to 25 students.

How long is a Field Trip?

‘Showcase’ Field Trips last one hour and ‘Create’ Field Trips last 90 minutes. To schedule more time, contact your chosen Apple Store.

When can I book a Field Trip for?

Field Trips run every autumn and spring. Registration is now open for weekday events at selected stores. Details on year-round programmes can be found on Apple's Youth Programmes website.

Apple Summer Camp

Apple Summer Camp is another youth education scheme from Apple, suitable for children aged eight to 12.

Pupils will learn to make movies by storyboarding ideas, shooting video and creating an original soundtrack.

Alternatively, kids can create interactive books complete with their own illustrations and sound effects.
