Focus on: Arley Hall & Gardens

Date Posted: 06/08/2014

Subjects: History, Science
Venue: Arley Hall & Gardens, Northwich, Cheshire
Key Stages: 1-3

A seed growing exercise and guided tour of Arley Hall & Gardens should encourage children to enjoy their natural environment and find more out about the history that surrounds the historic venue.

The students will be given a tour of the hall with a hall guide, finding out how people lived and worked in years gone by, as well planting four seeds in individual pots for them to take home and watch grow.

Two seeds will be edible food and two will be flowers – both sets of seeds are planted under the guidance of Arley’s gardeners.

Finally a tour of the gardens will point out flowering plants as well as wildlife in and around the gardens.
