The Royal Crescent in Bath reopens

Date Posted: 09/05/2013

One of Bath’s leading attractions, No. 1 Royal Crescent, will be re-opening its doors on 21st June following a major project to reunite its original 18th century servants’ wing with the rest of the house.

The refurbishment will double the number of rooms open to the public, from five to ten dressed rooms, and create a brand new extended historic house museum.

In the 20th century, the lease for No.1 was split with the original service wing being sold separately as No.1a Royal Crescent.

The £5 million project will restore No.1a with the main building, increasing the exhibition space from five to ten dressed rooms.

Each room will provide school groups with examples of period design with authentic furniture, paintings, objects and textiles, making it one of the UK’s finest examples of late Georgian architecture.
