Spinnaker Tower launches new educational offerings

Date Posted: 26/02/2013

Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower is expanding its educational offer by launching a range of Key Stage 1 and 2 educational activity bags and worksheets this spring.

Working in partnership with Pompey in the Community, the new activities will be a free addition to visiting schools. Using elements of the view, the tower’s location and structure, these interactive, hands-on activities have been designed to make learning fun.

Concentrating on Literacy, Numeracy and Humanities, teachers will be able to use the activity bags to enhance their educational visit.

Each activity/worksheet will offer a 15 – 20 minute task for school groups to undertake, including a Towers of Hanoi puzzle based on sequencing, a ‘write a kenning poem task’ and tabulation, map and graph activities with an international theme.

The accompanying worksheets will be available to download from the educational resources page of the Spinnaker Tower website, with the activity bags being collected from reception on arrival.
