RSC presents Wendy & Peter Pan this winter season

Date Posted: 06/05/2013

The Royal Shakespeare Company continues its tradition of family shows this winter with a new adaptation of Wendy & Peter Pan, playing at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from 10th December to 2nd March.

Part of the RSC’s winter 2013 season, Wendy & Peter Pan is billed as a fresh new perspective on the much-loved children’s classic by J.M. Barrie.

Directed by Jonathan Munby, the production follows a hit line-up of previous RSC family shows which include last season’s The Mouse and His Child, 2011’s The Heart of Robin Hood, and 2010’s Matilda The Musical.

Synopsis

Winter 1909. As their parents bicker downstairs, Wendy Darling and her two brothers are sleeping peacefully in the bedroom - until a mischievous boy called Peter and a fractious fairy named Tink tumble through the window in a flurry of snow.

In the magical Peter Pan, Wendy sees not only a great adventure, but also a chance to rediscover the key to her parents’ lost happiness.

With the aid of a little fairy dust she agrees to fly with Peter to Neverland. There she will give the Lost Boys a run for their money, defeat Captain Hook and his pirate crew, and ultimately, learn what it means to grow up.
