Norfolk becomes arts and culture mecca this year

School travel organisers based in the Norwich and Norfolk can choose to take pupils to a calendar of Benjamin Britten centenary concerts and a selection of arts and cultural events throughout the country.

The Norfolk & Norwich Festival, running from the tenth to 26th May, lays claim to being the second largest international arts festival in England. Students can expect a plethora of shows and music from around the world, including Soul Rebels from New Orleans, Mariza from Portugal and the French musician Woodkid.

This year’s literary festival, starting on 6th February and running until the end of May, includes one of the world's leading thriller writers - Lee Child, Costa Poetry Award shortlisted author Kathleen Jamie and Posy Simmonds.

Benjamin Britten has strong links with Norwich and 2013 will see a host of concerts and recitals across the city in historic buildings celebrating his centenary. Recent event announcements include a special centenary weekend in June at Norwich Cathedral and a four-week celebration of Britten at Norwich's millennium building, The Forum in November.
