Date Posted: 13/02/2013

IWM Duxford is hosting its first tour for children. Children’s Tour: Historic Duxford takes a flying visit through Duxford’s past, meeting characters from different periods of Duxford’s history along the way.

Pupils will be taken on a flying visit through IWM Duxford’s history, by the Time Commander who will take children to meet characters from the destination’s eventful past.

Activities for school groups include: looking out for World War One bombs; seeing aerobatic aeroplanes and bravely undergoing training with the accident-prone Flying Training School; putting on their thinking caps and matching up mystery objects with their World War Two owners; and meeting American allies and cut a rug with the jitterbug.

Children’s Tour: Historic Duxford runs for approximately 90 minutes. The tour is limited to 25 children and accompanying adults can attend the tour free of charge. The tour is suitable for children of all ages but is aimed primarily at children between the ages of six and ten.

The Children’s Tour: Historic Duxford takes place on 30th to 31st March, 27th to 28th May, and 30th to 31st May.
