School Travel Organiser focuses on three school trips in France and Spain for Key Stage 3 and 4 Foreign Language students, offered by Starling Study Trips.

Starling Study Trips is an independent study abroad service that offers Foreign Language trips to destinations including Costa Rica, Riga in Latvia, Cologne in Germany, and Marrakech in Morocco.

The company provides travel experience packages that are fully inclusive of language workshops, host family accommodation (or hotels on request), meals, transfers, activities and excursions.

Each trip can be tailor-made if desired, or teachers can choose from a number of available itineraries that focus on improving language skills.

Here are three examples of Starling Study Trips’ Foreign Language holidays…

Valencia, Spain

Spanish students can explore the vibrant city of Valencia (pictured above) on this seven night holiday, Sunday to Sunday. The trip can accommodate up to 30 students and two teachers/organisers.

From Monday to Friday, the class will take four Spanish lessons a day in Starling’s Valencia partner school. These lessons will typically take place in the morning, leaving the afternoons free for students to explore the city and test their new language skills.

Students can expect a guided walking tour of Valencia’s Old Town; a visit to the Maritime Promenade; games on the beach; and a visit to the Fallas Museum.

Other educational lessons include a Spanish cooking class, using fresh produce bought at the Valencia Central Market, and a tapas tour.

On the last day, students can take a full-day guided cycling excursion to Albufera Nature Park and the Albuhesa of El Saler – a forest and public beach.

Dénia, Spain

The town of Dénia is one hour south of Valencia, providing a coastal community instead of a city environment for Spanish Language learning. Dénia is framed by mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, providing a picturesque backdrop to learning.

This is another seven night trip, catering for up to 30 students, and Spanish lessons can be expected every weekday morning, followed by other activities such as sailing, games on the beach or hiking in the mountains.

A cooking workshop that includes preparing and tasting a traditional Paella, a guided visit to Dénia’s castle and grounds, and a painting workshop provide additional learning opportunities on top of this trip’s Spanish lessons.

Montpellier, France

Located in the south of France, Montpellier is home to a number of cultural landmarks including the Saint Clément aqueduct, the opera house on Place de la Comédie, and the city’s own Arc de Triomphe.

A six night trip for up to 30 students plus two leaders will include French lessons each morning from Monday to Friday, and a number of excursions too.

Students will take a guided walking tour of Montpellier; go ice-skating; visit the Roman city of Nîmes; take a French cooking lesson; and enjoy a two-course meal in a local crêperie.
